Most non-EEA nationals must have a permit to access the labour market in Ireland. You cannot enter employment unless you or your employer has obtained an employment permit for you. According to the Irish Refugee Council, the right to work for protection applicants can prevent economic and social exclusion, de-skilling and aid people’s integration in Ireland.

International protection applicants can apply for permission to work after six months of being in Ireland. This application is made through the Department of Justice  where you can find full details of eligibility criteria and how to apply.  Through INIS which is under Dept of Justice wing
